JJJ includes ground control and includes escaping from being on the ground. The context of JJJ is self-defence against multiple attackers.

Japanese Judo, another Olympic sport.


The objective of competitive judo is to throw an opponent, immobilise them with a pin, or force an opponent to submit with a joint lock or a choke.


Competition has weight categories so you're often fighting against someone of similar size and skill to you.


Striking and the use of weapons are illegal in judo competition or free practice.


Context is important. Similar to competitive sports, there is no training for other situations - such as is a weapon is in play or multiple attackers.



KRAV MAGA





Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art developed for the Israel Defense Forces.


KM promotes finishing a fight as quickly and aggressively as possible. Attacks are aimed at the most vulnerable parts of the body.


The context of what Krav Maga was designed for (Military) and where it is to be used ( battlefield) is important as we live in a modern "peaceful" society where, even in self-defence, you need to justify your actions with a measured response to the threat.
